The Coalition for Green Capital is working with a broad network of partners to design and develop the strategy and operating plan for a National Green Bank, an independent nonprofit entity seeking its initial capitalization through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This policy is the culmination of over a decade of work by Congressional champions, CGC, members of the American Green Bank Consortium, philanthropic supporters, and environmental advocates who have been pushing for a central resource to help organize, activate, and accelerate the clean energy transition in communities across the country with a focus on low-income communities that have not historically benefited from the health, economic and environmental benefits of clean power. The National Green Bank will work with and provide resources to a broad network of financial intermediaries, including state and local Green Banks, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), Credit Unions, Community Banks, Minority Deposit Institutions (MDIs) and other community-based organizations, all of whom are helping to inform the strategy.
The following experts are leading a series of working groups to ensure we are benefiting from the collective experience of this broad network.
