Coalition for Green Capital Applauds EPA for Updated Guidelines for Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund

Washington, DC— The Coalition for Green Capital (CGC) released the following statement today in response to an update announced by the Environmental Protection Agency regarding the $27B Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund:
Reed Hundt, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of CGC, said, “We congratulate EPA on extremely useful and laudable clarification of its intentions for awarding funds under the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. We are pleased that the importance of national green banking is clearly at the heart of the agency's plans. We look forward to working with all interested parties in providing comments to the Agency as requested, and collaboratively and expeditiously transforming the energy landscape in every community in America."
“EPA has taken a critical, positive step towards the successful implementation of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund through the aligned National Climate Investment Fund, a transformative national program that will harness the power of private finance and the Clean Communities Investment Accelerator, which will support the establishment and expansion of a distributed network of local community lenders,” said Eli Hopson, executive director and chief operating officer of CGC. "We look forward to working with the Agency to maximize the goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants, delivering benefits to American communities, particularly low-income and disadvantaged communities, and mobilizing financing to increase the scale of deployment."
