Meghan Conklin, a former staffer at the departments of Energy and the Interior, is joining the Coalition for Green Capital as policy director, the green bank advocacy group announced yesterday.
Conklin was most recently an aide to Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) — a top backer of green bank legislation on Capitol Hill — and she has a wealth of experience at the agencies and on Capitol Hill.
She was a deputy assistant secretary in DOE’s Office of Electricity and an associate deputy secretary at Interior during the Obama administration.
In 2009 and 2010, Conklin served as chief of staff at the Fish and Wildlife Service after years working for the House Natural Resources Committee. Conklin also did a stint with the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee under then-Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).
She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a master’s in public policy from George Washington University, according to her LinkedIn page.
“We are so fortunate to have Meghan join our team at this crucial moment, with bipartisan green bank legislation moving forward in Congress as part of the proposed infrastructure investment package,” Coalition for Green Capital Executive Director Jeffrey Schub said in a statement.
“Meghan has years of experience on national green bank policy, advising Senator Van Hollen and continuing that office’s years of leadership on this topic.”
President Biden’s infrastructure plan includes a proposed Clean Energy and Sustainability Accelerator, a federal green bank that would aim to spur investment in climate mitigation and adaptation.
