Devin Case-Ruchala is a trained data scientist with an expertise in public banking and community development finance. As Senior Director of Strategic Analytics, they play a central role in analyzing and aligning CGC’s financial portfolio with environmental and social impact outcomes to shape CGC’s financial and impact strategies and inform its operation. This includes developing internal systems for data collection, promoting both internal and external research initiatives, and translating findings to inform strategic decision-making.
Devin received their Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May 2023, in which they received rigorous training in data science and advanced statistical methodologies. Their research on the politics of public bank creation, global anti-money laundering regulation, and financial crisis diffusion has been published in high-ranking academic political science journals.
Prior to their Ph.D. program, Devin worked in the community development finance and cooperative sectors for several years by serving as financial manager and board member of a multi-home housing cooperative and working at a national CDFI loan fund cooperative. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy Analysis and Business from Indiana University in 2015. Originally from Nebraska, they now live in North Carolina where they enjoy mild winters and proximity to the ocean and mountains.
