Michael Hoffman

Michael is the Chief Investment Officer at The Coalition for Green Capital, which was recently awarded $5bn by the Environmental Protection Agency to set up a national green bank. He is a former Partner at Riverstone Holdings where he was principally responsible for investments in power and renewable energy for Riverstone’s funds. Riverstone is an energy and power-focused private equity firm with approximately $37 billion of equity capital raised across seven investment funds, including the world’s largest renewable energy fund. Michael was co-head of Riverstone’s Renewable Energy Funds and led the teams responsible for all power investments in its six conventional energy funds, with total equity capital commitments of approximately $7 billion.

Prior to joining Riverstone in 2003, Michael was Senior Managing Director and Head of the Mergers & Acquisitions advisory business of The Blackstone Group for 15 years. While at Blackstone, Michael was a member of the Private Equity Investment Committee and was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Prior to Blackstone, Michael was Co-Head of Mergers & Acquisitions at Smith Barney & Co.

Michael currently serves as a board member of The Rockefeller University and Chairman of Annovis Biotherapeutics, a company developing drugs for neurological diseases.

Michael received a BA and an MA from Northwestern University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a co-author of the book, “GREEN: Your Place in the New Energy Revolution.”
